Antitrust finds Tele2 guilty in national roaming case

MOSCOW, Apr 10 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has found mobile operator T2 RTK Holding, working under the Tele2 brand, guilty in the national roaming case, and the carrier will have to abolish the unjustified difference in tariffs, the authority said on Tuesday in a statement.

“A large-scale campaign of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia against national roaming has come to an end. The authority found the last representative of the big four, Tele2, guilty,” the watchdog said.

“Although the company did not follow the suit of its colleagues and did not voluntarily abolish the groundless difference in tariffs, it will happen all the same within a warning by the Federal Antimonopoly Service. Administrative cases and fines for companies will go next, while subscribers will receive fair tariffs for connection in trips across Russia.”

The antitrust service opened cases in August 2017 against the big four – MTS, MegaFon, VimpelCom and T2 RTK Holding – for excessive prices in national roaming, applied when operators use external networks to service clients in the regions where they lack own resources.
